You are asked to prepare a report, focusing on three issues:
1. An analysis (using a brief PESTLE and 5 forces) of the external factors impacting upon the car industry. From this analysis students are asked to develop a rationale or reasons justifying the merger of the two companies (from a Fiat point of view). This question deals with the past before the merger.
2. How has Fiat-Chrysler performed compared to its rivals and any competitive advantage it may obtain from going together; this includes the identification of critical resources.
3. Three strategic options appropriate for implementation in the next three years.
Remember, what you are required to do is build a justified and substantiated discussion using academic referencesalso known as analytical thinking and writing. The presentation, which is also expected to be based on analysis, will be of absolutely no more than 20 minutes duration (about 15 slides). You will be asked some questions, so come well prepared to answer them. Presentations will take place in seminars on Monday.
Assessing your performance
Each group will prepare its final report to a MAXIMUM of 4,000 words (excluding the title page, executive summary, contents, reference list, any charts and tables) and submit it electronically, through Blackboard, by 12:59 am on the Thursday 20th April.
