This is a 3 part question:

Please come up with 3 potential research questions following the guidelines listed below. These questions must target a population. My professor’s Example was something like – How do Monroe Professors handle students not completing homework?  

When choosing a topic, please keep the following in mind:

You will collect data from approximately 40 people. All participants of your study should be older than 17 years of age. You must have access to the population. 

Your overarching research question should not have a yes/no or answer. This means that you should not be able to go on the internet and find the answer to your question. Remember you are going to collect and analyze data. Please note, that you may ask yes/no questions and “how many” on your survey, but your research topic/question should require a broader response.

 Your questions should focus on a population of people. This could be based on geographic location, gender, age, religion, race/ethnicity, etc.

Your question should be based on a population in which you have access. Attempting to conduct a study on Astronauts who walked on the moon, will not be feasible.

You question(s) should not be of a nature that will cause participants to have emotional or mental distress. Asking someone if he/she want to commit suicide is not a good idea.

This is a social science project. Therefore you research will only involve participant answering questions. You will not collect any type of body fluid, medical devices, etc.

Your topic does not have to be health or disease related. Your topic could be based on any social science topic, ex. Education.

Remember that you have to formulate a Research Question that targets a specific population. 

When choosing your topic please keep in mind that you have to develop a survey of at least 15 questions to ask the participants of the study.

Using the research question that you think is best and create a survey or questionnaire with the requirements below:

Requirements:

• Your questionnaire should have demographic information for gender, race/ethnicity and age. Some people may not be comfortable with providing an exact age, so I recommend that you use age ranges. Depending on your research question, place (city/country) of residence may be necessary.
• Your questionnaire (draft) should have 10-15 questions that are directly related to your Research Question.
• It is acceptable to use a questionnaire that already exists. As you are reading the literature on your topic, you may come across a survey that has all or some of the questions that you want to ask your study participants. Using an existing survey is not considered plagiarism unless it has a copyright. Most surveys are not copyrighted.
• Your questionnaire should be formatted in a way that will be easy for the participants to read. The font should be 12, black, consistent…
• There questionnaire should not have any spelling or grammatical errors.
