The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Department of Arizona (VFW), is a mostly a non-profit organization. The VFW helps Veteran’s and their families by raising money for health costs, as well as helping fund youth programs.  As a Veteran, I have volunteered in this program and have helped in raising money for their benefits.  “Annually, the nearly 1.9 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of Volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week.” (vfwaz.org)   However, at this point in my life, I would have a difficult time working full-time for the VFW for no or little compensation.  I group I have worked with is a large group that has many full-time volunteers who are retired.  The retirees are the ones who make the VFW a success.  When I am retired, I know I will be able to find a group and help out like the VFW or any other group that helps the most vulnerable, elderly and the children.
