However, the income level of the households in Nicaragua was higher to that of Costa Rica ranging from 1.4% to 41.87% in the year 2005. It has also been apparently observed that the poverty level of Nicaragua is much higher, accounting up to 42.5% in 2009, indicating a poor wealth distribution within the country in comparison to Costa Rica. The other nearest neighbor of Costa Rica is Panama. The life expectancy rate of Panama is quite similar to that of Costa Rica i.e. 75.35 years for males and 81.04 years for females as on 2013.
