Purpose:
You will be writing an individual paper focussed on a psychosocial hazard, specifically the topic of Workplace Bullying. You need to think of the answers from the employee who is feeling bullied, the employee who is bullying and the organizational culture.
Your assignment is to be written from your perspective as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. One question to think about is how this material has increased your awareness of the importance of occupational health and safety in the workplace
Assignment Sections:
1.Introduction Provide an opening paragraph stating the context of the assignment and a clear outline, a road map, of what will be included in the following pages.
2.Research Research the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act. Explain the purpose of this Act and identify the section of the Act that covers Workplace Bullying. From an organizational perspective, explain why it is important to deal with workplace bullying? Explain why this should be the responsibility of the Occupational Health and Safety officer or Human Resources Professional?
3.Psychosocial Hazard: Define Workplace Bullying in the workplace. Comment on why you think that workplace bullying needs attention from the employees perception in the workplace. Your answer should include reference to Stressors in the Workplace. Describe how these stressors will decrease performance in the workplace. Suggest one metric that you might utilize to gather support for dealing with Workplace Bullying.
4.Outcomes in the workplace Explain in your own words, at least five measurable ways that the organization can observe workplace bullying.
5.Interventions in the workplace Recommend four ways that an organization could help employees who feel they are bullied. In particular, what type of training could be offered to the organization to increase the awareness of Workplace Bullying? Specifically what type of hazard investigation do you as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer need to conduct with both the victim and the alleged bully?
