A rapidly changing business environment is highly reliant on innovation and IT. Management must take extra precautions to ensure the security and integrity of information both generated by and entrusted to the business.

Instructions

Using the Internet or the Strayer Library, select and research a large company that has experienced a substantial data breach within the last five years. Choose a company that has not already been examined by one of your classmates. Address the following elements: 

• Explain how the data breach occurred, including whether the breach originated inside the company (that is, a rogue employee) or outside the company (that is, a hacker). Also, examine the stakeholders who were immediately impacted by the data breach.
• Describe the breakdown in internal controls or cybersecurity that allowed the breach to occur, including management’s reactions to the breach.
• Recommend at least one strategy that management could implement moving forward to avoid future security threats
